In this combined course students will complete Applied Information Technology (General - Units 1 and 2) and Certificate II in Information, Digital Media and Technology over two years.
Note – The general unit will be completed in Year 11 along with commencing the Certificate II course (will be the equivalent to 3 C grades over Year 11/12).
By enrolling in this combined General/VET course it allows students to gain extra points towards WACE (equivalent up to 6 C grades compared to only 4 for a general and/or CII VET Course over 2 years).
Year 11 Content (Applied Information Technology – General Units 1 and 2)
Hardware: Develop an understanding of computer components, how they work and develop troubleshooting skills.
Design Concepts: Learn how to design and create professional products and documents that are industry standard.
Impacts of Technology: Investigate impacts of computer crimes and issues such as hacking, identity theft, viruses and cyber stalking.
Application Skills: Develop software skills including online collaboration tools, animation, image manipulation and other software to create industry standard digital products.
Project Management Skills: Essential transferable skills for managing projects. These skills are essential for leaders in industry.
Managing Data: Develop skills such as effective search techniques, file formats and organisation.
Networks and Security: Develop skills knowledge and skills in wireless networks and security.
Certificate II in Information, Digital Media and Technology:
Students will also work towards completing units in Certificate II while in Year 11.
This course leads to – Certificate II in Information, Digital Media and Technology in Year 12.
Students will develop Information technology knowledge and skills that will help them in industry and/or university.
