Course Description:

In Design -Technical Graphics (General) students will develop skills and processes for current and future industry and employment markets such as engineering, architecture  building design and product design. Those entering a trade would also benefit with an ability to read and prepare drawings.

Technical Graphics (Design) will focus on:

  • Freehand sketching and presentation techniques to include rendering skills, tone and line work
  • CAD and instrument drawing skills
  • 2D/3D designs, study tools and equipment, drawing layout and conventions
  • Perspective drawing
  • Engineering drawing

Possible projects may include simple to more complex 2D and 3D designs such as; logos, building layouts, posters, or items of furniture.

Additional Information:

This Technical Drawing course will help the student achieve success in the Technical Drawing environment and give them a  solid grounding in the modern drafting office. It will  teach the fundamentals of Technical Drawing using CAD programmes such as ACAD and REVIT as well as 3D Product Design using Autodesk INVENTOR. Students will also be  exposed to the Graphic Design software package Adobe Illustrator. The student will learn how to communicate with clients and colleagues using a range of media.
Further education, training and employment opportunities within this industry are greatly enhanced for students completing this course.
