Course Description:
This course provides students with an understanding of the financial operation of different forms of business organisations and non-trading enterprises and should be a consideration for those students wishing to pursue a career in areas such as Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Marketing, Management or Banking.
 
Skills learnt help in the preparation and analysis of financial reports from financial data, identifying legislation and the financial costs associated with starting and maintaining good business practice, selecting financial and non-financial information to evaluate a small business and suggesting strategies that will improve business performance.
 
Students will also have the opportunity of applying for a Cadetship with a Chartered Accountancy firm. It is a chance to work while studying Business or Commerce at University.  Students need to apply whilst in Year 12 ready for commencement the following year. It is a great way to enhance learning as students combine theory and practice while completing University studies. 
Course Assessment:
Tests - 50%
Project - 10%
Examination - 40%
Note – A detailed assessment statement will be provided to students at the commencement of the course.
Additional Information:
A high external workload should be expected.
Vocational opportunities: After completing Accounting & Finance Units 3 & 4, students would have adequate skills to apply for an Accounts Clerk, Level 2 or 3 in any industry.
Students would also be eligible to apply for a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping at TAFEWA.
This nationally recognised qualification meets the educational requirements for BAS AGENT REGISTRATION.
